Apart from the angled bay windows we see all over the City, here are examples of one of the other most popular front-facade treatment of windows — the 5-sided, slightly round, barrel front.
The style, which was apparently first deployed in the Marina in the 1920s-1930s, this style has permeated the City so that they are found almost everywhere in San Francisco. The style, slightly widens the window opening in width but not in depth or height — the style softens the fronts of homes as opposed to an oversized three-plane bay window or the sharper box window.
